*cough* ...excuse the dust... *cough*

My drawing board's gotten a little smudged over the last couple years. I've lost track of the plans I'd made, and its all too blurry to try and salvage them. So, I'm erasing the lot, and starting with a clean slate. Pardon the word vomit, my fingers may not always know when to quit. ^_^

Run, Walk, Blade!

Life is apparently a master at getting in the way. To be fair, I should have made better use of my time alone, but really, who thinks about hopping on the Wii when you have three hours to yourself?

Monday was supposed to be the start of our new fitness plan. Every day, no matter what, we're supposed to either walk around the park, or play on the WiiFit, or do sit ups, or something! It's mildly amusing that our first day was an epic failure. Heh.

We'd specifically planned Monday to be a couple trips around the park, with a stop off at Subway for dinner, and a final walk back home. It was our old routine last summer, and it worked out nicely for us. A four hour hold over for BF at work though, and a request to eat dinner with a parental unit, put a pretty effective stop to those plans. At least we were able to stick with Subway, and whereas we'd normally turn to a six pack of beer to help ease the stress away, we avoided alcohol and went with water and juice instead. Not a great night, but not nearly as horrible as it could have been.

Last night was a success though: walked three times around the park, actually ran some of the way home - I ran! And didn't pass out! I would have kept going, 'cept my sweats were falling. Heh. - and had a healthier version of spaghetti for dinner, with a small dinner salad on the side. I took 93% lean ground beef, Johnsville hot ground sausage, seasoning, and egg, and made meatballs. Instead of pan frying them, like I normally would have, in their own fat, I placed all the meatballs on a cookie rack, and baked them in the oven, so the fat would drip down. Afterwards, I patted all the excess fat off the top, simmered them in some hearty spaghetti sauce, and boiled up some whole grain wheat noodles. Was it the healthiest dinner in the world? Of course not. Was it healthier than what I'd normally have made? Absolutely. Did I eat a smaller portion than normal? Yep!!

I've successfully had a piece of fruit every day this week, had breakfast every morning, and only added creamer to my coffee once. I'm drinking two liters of water a day, skipping soda whenever I can, and avoiding over binging on sugar - like I did this weekend - by eating yogurt. I'm reading the nutritional menus more accurately now, and making better decisions about the food I buy. All around, I'm more aware of what's stocking my kitchen. That's a good thing, and you know it ^_^

Today, we'll go blading, seeing as how it's 80 degrees outside. Then we'll come home, have chicken salad for dinner, and tomorrow, when BF's doing another four hour hold over, I'll break a sweat on my Wii and munch on an apple til he gets home. Then it'll be another night of healthy eating, and doing it the right way.

Things are working out nicely, I must say :)
