*cough* ...excuse the dust... *cough*

My drawing board's gotten a little smudged over the last couple years. I've lost track of the plans I'd made, and its all too blurry to try and salvage them. So, I'm erasing the lot, and starting with a clean slate. Pardon the word vomit, my fingers may not always know when to quit. ^_^

VLCD 16 - Venturing Into The Unknown

Earlier this week I blogged about doubt, and how life, in general, and specifically my social and professional lives, were creeping up on me. In 48 hours, I'll face the reality of my professional life interacting, and potentially misfiring, with my dieting life. This should be interesting. *_*

The majority of the year I hold a steady eight to four office job, with minimal physical effort required. This makes doing a diet as exercise-restrictive as the protocol a piece of cake. I have a fridge, a microwave, and the ability to sit all day so I don't over exert myself. I can cook my lunch the day before, bring it in to store in the fridge, and eat around noon, with my drops easily scheduled and maintained throughout the day. I have a routine, and it works.

This weekend marks the launch of softball/baseball for photographing of the youth leagues. As seems par for the course, the season starts smack in the middle of SoCal's rainy season, and the grounds are in horrible condition. I was originally scheduled for an overnight shoot that left tonight, shot all day Saturday, and then returned back home.

I was most concerned about Saturday. I could handle dinner at home both tonight and tomorrow night, but my schedule of drops, the strategic intake of water, lunch, and the physical exertions I'd have to go through had me just a tad bit worried. Photography, while not a full contact sport - heh - definitely entails some physical exercise. You're lugging around twenty pound cases, carrying equipment back and forth, on your feet all day long, and constantly talking and moving around adjusting flags and poses and camera settings. There is very little downtime involved in a shoot, something that I usually relish, but now find myself dreading.

Luckily, my overnight was canceled. I've been moved to a Sunday shoot that will run from eight am til three. It's not ideal, but it's most definitely more manageable. I'll make a lunch that will hold up well without full refrigeration, and utilize the timer and alarm on my phone to maximum capacity. In truth, Sunday will be a test for the rest of the season: I'm scheduled to shoot back to back through the end of March, and I can't simply drop out because I'm on a restricted exercise regime. That wouldn't be very kind.

I'm both excited, and worried, about Sunday. I'll probably bring both my servings of melba with me just in case, and have extra water on hand. Hopefully, this all goes smoothly, and I can find a nice balance between the two worlds. Cross your fingers. :)
